The New Rochelle City Council approved City Manager Kathleen Gill's resignation in a special session held on Tuesday, April 9, officials announced.
Gill's resignation became effective on Tuesday, officials added.
In a statement, New Rochelle Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert said Gill is looking to "pursue other opportunities."
"She is grateful for her 27 years of service to the City of New Rochelle and is proud to have worked with so many hard-working and dedicated City employees," Ramos-Herbert said, adding, "We thank Kathleen for her service to the City of New Rochelle and wish her the best in her future endeavors."
No further details about Gill's resignation were released.
Ramos-Herbert also said the city would soon begin a "comprehensive and transparent search process" to find Gill's successor.
To do this, the city will enlist an executive search firm to conduct a nationwide search. The process to hire a search firm will begin immediately, officials said.
In the meantime, Deputy City Manager Adam Salgado will serve as Acting City Manager.
